Happy fathers day and summer solstice, the longest day of the year. Galileo is forced by the church to renounce science. The first Ferris Wheel appears as does the first F.W. Woolworth store. CBS demonstrates the 33 1/3 RPM record. Goodbye 78. It’s also the day that Goodman, Schwerner and Cheney disappear in Mississippi and Princess Diane gives birth to her first son William and the WNBA begins it’s first season. Happy birthday Mary McCarthy and Jane Russell and the recently departed Benazir Bhutto
Fathers day actually has roots that go back to Babylon 4000 years ago but here are the details of how it developed
The summer solstice varies by year but in 2009, today is the day. The longest day of the year goes back a long day in time.Even longer then Fathers day.
