1820 Daniel Boone died He was 85.

1890  US stops minting $1 & $3 gold coins.

1914  the Federal Trade Commission formed to regulate interstate commerce and deceptive business

1920  the Ford Ranger truck debuted in Texas. It was named after the Texas Ranger, was first announced appropriately in Houston, Texas. Although the Ford truck has changed considerably since the first Ranger model, the name still connotes a rugged, tough image.
