1095 Pope Urban II preaches for the first crusade. There were 6 more.to come. Now that’s commitment.
1817 the Seminole war begins in Florida.
1890 the 1st police signal box goes into operation in San Francisco.
1895 the Nobel Prize is established.
1889 the first permit is issued to drive a car through Central Park (Curtis Brady)
1910 Pennsylvania station in New York opens.
1951 the first rocket (Nike) to intercept a plane is launched in White Sands.
1965 France becomes 3rd nation in space with launch of Satellite.
1957 Buddy Holly’s only album "The Chirping Crickets" is released
1967 The Beatles "Magical Mystery Tour" album is released.
1969 the Rolling Stones "Get Yer Ya-Ya’s Out" tour opens in MSG.
1970 Howard Hughes moves out of The Desert Inn Penthouse and is not seen again for 6 years when he dies in the Bahamas.
1973 Congress votes for Gerald Ford to succeed Spiro Agnew as VP.
1978 Dan White shoots SF mayor George Mosconi and Harvey Milk. Remember the Twinkies defense? And now there’s a movie on Harvey Milk.
