The daughters of the American Revolution organize. This is the day that Sgt. York became famous. The Graf Zeppelin pushes off on it’s world flight and remember the Great Train Robbery in the UK. Christine Craft wins her sex discrimination suit and Nixon Resigns. And after 8 years The Soviet Union begin their pull out from Afghanistan. It’s also the birthday of Rudy Gemreich the creator of the Topless swimsuit and actress/swimmer Esther Williams. And Florence Chadwick.

1890 The daughters of the American Revolution organize themselves. They’re still here.

1918 Remember Alvin York? Well today, he became famous. Sgt. York would have died destitute if it wasn’t for an act of congress in the early 60’s.

1929 the Graf Zeppelin begins its round the world flight.

1937 Bonneville Dam on Columbia River begins producing power
